Entrepreneur Magazine Covers Evolve IP’s Mobility and BYOD Survey of 566 Business Professionals

Entrepreneur Magazine covered an article written by Don Mennig, Sr. VP of Marketing for Evolve IP, discussing how mobile devices lure us into working longer and pretty much no one objects.

“For many professionals, the past few years have seen work and personal time become more intricately intertwined. Bedtime has become the final “email-check-time.” Saturday and Sunday could be renamed “week-never-ends” and the good vibrations on vacation may very likely be coming courtesy of your boss via Apple and Samsung.

Technologies like virtual desktops, unified communications and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs have forced a new day with regards to work rules. Coupled with powerful tablets and smartphones, increased Internet connection speeds and the proliferation of Wi-Fi hotspots, the entire world has arguably become a virtual office.”

A sample of the results include:

  • On average, managers and executives are working remotely 10+ hours / week
  • They are also adding about 24.5 minutes to their work day while commuting
  • 95% of companies are embracing mobility and BYOD programs
  • 80% of those surveyed feel that the trade-off between being accessible ‘anytime / anywhere’ is a positive thanks to the trade-off of a better work / life balance (decreased commuting times – flex-scheduling)
